courseoverviewAssignment #1 – Problem Statement

The object of this course is to understand how technology affects our communications in teaching and learning contexts. For this assignment, you should identify a potential application of ICT to address a communication issue or problem (not too general) in your academic and professional contexts. From this problem, you should be able to develop a case study for your final poster presentation and paper in this course. Describe the problem succinctly and, if possible, with reference to previous studies and literature. Highlight the pedagogical and social impact of the problem.

Due Date: Friday, July 14th, 2016, 11:59pm EDT

What to Submit:• 500-700 word problem statement written in APA v. 6 format

(excluding references) (15%)

courseoverviewAssignment #2 – Group Presentation

Your team of 2-3 people will select one basic communication theory or model. You will develop an online information resource, and a 10-15 minute video presentation (uploaded to YouTube, embedded with your online resource page, and presented during either Adobe Connect class sessions 3 or 4). Your team should present a clear summary of the design, characteristics and foundations of the theory or model. The logic of the model is the most important element to be understood by your peers. This will include showcasing a blend of asynchronous and synchronous communications tools. In addition, two questions are to be addressed briefly in your presentation: 1. How does this theory/model relate to learning settings?2. How is technology affecting educational communication when viewed from

this perspective? What to Submit:• Online (mobile-friendly) resources site (including a method for your

classmates to provide you with feedback on the site and your presentation) (10%)

• 10-15 minute video presentation (15%)Due Date for Online Resources Site: Tuesday, July 19, 2016Due Date for Adobe Connect Presentation: Wednesday, July 20, or Wednesday, July 27, 2016

Due Date for Poster Submission to Instructor: Tuesday, August 2, 2016, 11:59pm EDTDue Date for Poster Presentation: Class Meetings 5 and 6

What to Submit:The outcomes of your case study, situated in your own professional area, will be presented as a poster to the entire group during Class Meetings 5 and 6 for the feedback from the instructor and your peers.
