Based on the Gaia Education Ecovillage Design Curriculum, this seminar is an official contribution to the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development 20152020. The EDE was born out of the experiences of long existing communities and cutting edge educators in order to teach how to create a new way of living which brings together the four key dimensions of sustainability: social, cultural/worldview, ecological and economic. GOALS OF THIS COURSE • social tools for leadership, participatory decision making, group building, conflict solving… Personal guidance for individual growth towards leadership for change • a holistic education in the four dimensions of sustainability • exploring solutions and experiencing effective models to transform society • experiencing a visionary community in “real life”, • transmitting design and implementation skills for effective projects • ecological knowledge and practise from permaculture, green building to renewables • developing an artistic approach to life Deepening an integral understanding of the current situation of global society The Host “Zala Maja” (The Green Home) and the NGO"SMILTENEI UN LATVIJAI" (for Smiltene and for Latvia), in partnership with GAIA EDUCATION, presents ECOVILLAGE DESIGN EDUCATION TRAINING FOR SUSTAINABILITY July 13 August 9, 2015

COSTS AND FUNDING POSSIBILITIES The course fee for full four weeks is 900 EUR plus accommodation costs: 1000 EUR for double room, 900 EUR for Hay hotel and 800 EUR for your own tent. There are few financial bursaries: Erasmus Plus program for individual mobility offers residents from the 27 EU-member states (other than Latvia) plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Turkey, Croatia and Switzerland apply for a grant, that covers substantial parts of course fee, travel expenses, subsistence costs including expenses for accommodation and food, travel insurance. Our NGO "Smiltenei un Latvijai" can also offer bursaries for participants with very low income, Baltic States members and people from Palestine.
