Objectives:
•Define the nature of assessment and its purpose.
•Identify and explain the various levels of assessment.
Nature of Assessment
•Defined as sample taken from a larger domain of content and process skills.

•It involves examining and observing students behaviors, listening to their ideas and developing questions to promote conceptual understanding.

•Inform and guide instruction

Assessment of learning Being summative it measures students’ attainment of standards

Levels of Assessment
The attainment of learning outcomes as defined in the standards shall be the basis for the quality assurance of learning using formative assessments.
They shall also be the focus of the summative assessments and shall be the basis for grading at the end of instruction.

Nature of assessment defined as sample taken from a larger domain and involving observing the performances of the student. The purpose of assessment is to inform and guide instruction and used to provide information to the students and parents. The levels of Assessment shall be the basis for the quality assurance of learning using formative assessments. The focus of the summative assessments and shall be the basis for grading at the end of instruction. The levels of Assessment are defined by level: knowledge; process or skill; understanding; and products and performances.
