The Truth About Ecstasy • Since the 1980s the drug that was first developed in Germany, Ecstasy (MDMA), has been one of the most popular stimulants, depressants, and hallucinogens of all time.
• To this day it has also been labeled as one of the most dangerous drugs out there. In fact it is ranked as the 8th most dangerous drug from 1 to 10 (ten being the highest).

Effects of Ecstasy on the Mind • Ecstasy has been known to destroy
serotonin axons. • This leads to the obliteration of brain
neurons, which causes you to become incapable of regulating your emotions, developing a loss of appetite, and the ability to sleep.
• A study was done involving monkeys and how much ecstasy's neurotoxicity actually effects the brain.

• Picture B shows a monkey’s serotonin axons that has been injected with doses of ecstasy.
Serotonin Axons = Sends signals to the brain A.K.A “Communication Cables”

Effects of Ecstasy on the Body• Depression = A serious medical condition where a
person feels sad, unloved, hopeless, and unimportant. This causes them to be unable to live normally.• Hyperthermia = Very high fever• Brain Damage = Injury to the brain that impairs
the brains functions permanently.• Kidney Failure = When the kidneys are unable to
excrete waste.• Hyponatremia = Dangerously low sodium in the
blood, usually connected with dehydration.
Effects of Ecstasy on Relationships
• Frustration and Stress (Disagreements over ecstasy can cause families and friends to argue which can lead to personnel issues)
• Legal and Health Issues ( Places tension on
financial, work, and other responsibilities)
Effects of Ecstasy on Academic Performance
• Students who are users of Ecstasy are incapable of concentrating in school, they are exhausted, and feel very uncomfortable.
• In some cases students are depressed and unable to complete their work.
• These things will lead to students failing.
