Program DescriptionDrafting is the skill of “Drawing” on paper or computer,
information needed to build something. It may be a house, building, automobile, aircraft, furniture or spacecraft. Anything made by man must have a set of plans drawn so that it can be built.
Employment• Architectural Firms• Mechanical Engineering Firms• Civil Engineering Firms• Surveying Firms• Automobile companies (GMC, Ford etc….)• State, County and city• Animating companies (Pixar, Disney etc….)• Fabricating factories
Admission Requirements
• Complete an application and submit a $20 application fee
• Submit GED® or High school diploma
• Take placement exam
• Must be at least 16 years of age
Additional Program Requirements• Must have completed all remedial and prerequisite courses

Tuition is based on $89 per credit hour ($1,335 for 15 hours or more)

Timeline• You can obtain the AutoCAD Refresher certificate in 2 terms.
• You could obtain the Drafting Aid certificate in 2 terms.• You could graduate with a diploma in Drafting in as little
as 4 terms.

Frequently Asked Questions Do I have to be an artist or be able to draw? No, the drafting program is designed to take you step by step in the drawing and design process.
Do I have to have computer skills? No, you will be taught how to set up and use the computer in the COMP 1000 class.
What does a drafter do? A drafter draws plans for everything man-made from floor plans, air planes, tools, highways, etc.
What will be expected of me once I graduate and have a job in the drafting field? When you graduate from the drafting program, you will be considered an entry level drafter. Your job mainly
will be to make changes to drawings that have been already drawn, known as red lines or mark up drawings.
What is the pay range for an entry level drafter? Like any other profession, the pay varies, depending on location and the company you work for. Normally the pay ranges from $12.00 to $21.00 per hour.
