Idea 1: Local Wildlife

• My first idea is to make a documentary about local wildlife around the surrey area.

• The documentary mode would be observational and expository. • It would look at the condition of the wildlife in the area, interviewing

people who are involved in caring and maintaining the environment. • We would discuss how the habitats change though the seasons and

why preserving them is important.• We could also interview members of the public too see how aware

they are of their local wildlife. • The documentary could show the measures some members of the

public take to protect local animals such as leaving out food and making donations.

• An ideal setting for this would be in the Westend area in Esher. • We would use a variety of shots but wide shots would dominate in

order to capture the whole landscape. • The sounds would mainly be the diegetic sound of the wildlife with a

suitable soundtrack.• The majority of the editing would be slow as the documentary

would be interview heavy.

Idea 2: Year 7 vs Year 13

• My second idea could be filmed around school and would involved filming and following a year 7 and year 13 student.

• It would therefore be observational and reflexive. • We would compare their daily lives, mainly at school but also social

life. • We could interview the students themselves, parents and teachers

to understand how students change from year 7 to year 13• . A main focus point would be on the stress of exams and how that

impacts year 13 students as its something which does not effect year 7's.

• However we could also focus on the transitions the two years face as year 7's are new to the school and year 13's are preparing to go to university.

• The editing will be quite fast pace to capture the stresses of school life.

• We would use a lot of diegetic noises from around school and a mixture of camera shots.

• For interviews shot reverse shot would be used to involve the interviewer in the documentary.

• My third idea is to do a documentary about addictions in young people.

• We could interview people from school about things they have been addicted to.

• Some examples could be fashion, appearance, revision, drugs and alcohol.

• We would discuss how and why they became addicted and how they solved it.

• We would use a range of camera shots.• Editing and sounds would depend on the

focus point at the time.
