ABOUT GP DIFFUSION

Teachers have a unique chance to change the world.

During lessons it is important to choose and develop the right competences for the future

education and job .( to be able to learn, to co-operate, to utilize ICT,

technologies and information sources, to communicate, to present, to self – evaluate,...)

ABOUT GP DIFFUSION

• GP is focused on vizualization of an experiment• the creation of a new type of input from the real

experiment• the results sharing via digital technologies• innovative creation of student´s portfolio – electronic

student´s portfolio• the learning via problem solving – a student becomes a

researcher

DESCRIPTION OF GP•Students work in groups of 2 or 3 students, each group needs a computer with Microsoft Office (Power Point), connection to the Internet, Movie Maker, Audacity... The teacher speaks to the students about diffusion and diffusion process in science. •Diffusion describes the spread of particles through random motion from a part of higher concentration to a part of lower concentration.

Page 10: Diffusion

STEPS OF REALISATION OF GP1. The teacher explains the task to the pupils: Make a visualisation of experiment. •We can use water and KMnO4. Water fluently changes its colour. • We can use either ink or food colour.

Page 11: Diffusion

STEPS OF REALISATION OF GP2. The students • use a camera and take pictures of this process • give the short information about the process • record the information • use Movie Maker and make short movie about experiment • use this movie in Power Point presentation

STEPS OF REALISATION OF GP3.The students are responsible for structure of presentation: • the name of experiment • the explanation of experiment • the movie • the interpretation and results of experiment • the sources of information

Page 15: Diffusion

STEPS OF REALISATION OF GP4. Students answer the questions:How the process of diffusion depends on• ambient temperature • form of substance• size of elements• distance of elements

Page 16: Diffusion

STEPS OF REALISATION OF GP5. The students present their jobs and evaluate • Fulfillment

• Correctness

• Conclusion This is how the project is evaluated

Which skills do students need for this GP?• search for information• analysis of information• change face of information to electronic • work with Power Point, Word, Audacity...• work with Internet

Page 19: Diffusion

Which teaching materials need to be used?• students´ books• the Internet• Power point, Word, Movie Maker, Audacity...

Page 20: Diffusion

Which key facts do students need to know before the start of the GP?• the substances consist of atoms and molecules •atoms and molecules are permanently moving• the proof of the permanent movement is also

diffusion

Page 21: Diffusion

What are the aims of this GP? What should students need to learn?• to make a visualization of the real experiment

and to explain its core and its course • to learn the students to work with information

and to use critical mean• learn the students to work with digital sound,

digital camera and movie

Page 22: Diffusion

How much time is involved in preparing and teaching this GP? • instalation of the software equipment , the

preparation of the cameras and the movie camera - 30 minutes• computer, connection to the Internet, digital

camera, microphone, speakers, vizualizer, dataprojector...• software Movie Maker, Audacity, Power point...

Page 23: Diffusion

How would you assess the students? • using of digital technology

• self - activity• planning and finishing work• responsibility for their work• collaboration

• evaluation of their work

Page 24: Diffusion

How would you evaluate the GP in order to see whether students has profited more from it than by using a traditional teaching method?

• this method helps to integrate digital Technologies into the studying

• it modernizes the school subject• it enables complex representation of information – the

student book, the Internet, video• it implements experience studying• it implements collaborative-based learning• it implements project-based learning

Page 25: Diffusion

This way develops the following skills :• creativity• the sense for innovation• communication• co-operation• work with information • critical thinking • problems solving and digital literacy

Page 26: Diffusion

Questions for colleagues• Did you have any problems to implement a GP created by

someone else?• What did you have to modify to implement it in class? - curriculum adaptations (age, subject, topic)- students working habits (more discussions, group versus

individual work )• Did your test group know that they were the part of a project?

(did they know they were T or C?)• Which implemented aspects of the GPs were successful and

problematic– for you and your students?• Are you considering the usage of this GP again in future? If yes,

why, if no, why not? If partly, which parts?

WORK WITH GP

• Creating OpenID account www.scientix.eu• Login into a Scientix and Moodle • Guide the participants through the different

sections of GP• Discussion on how could GP diffusion be

implemented in the countries of the participants

Page 28: Diffusion

The problems during GP implementation

• Mainly while assigning and working-out tests• We suppose to translate the text of the tests

for the students twice• e.g. Slovak – English / English – Slovak by

several translators
