What are you expected to do in Part 2 of the Speaking Paper?
•Have a conversation with the examiner in which you
give personal information and opinions.
•Compare two photographs and answer a question
briefly.
•Discuss some pictures with the other candidate to
reach a decision.
•Answer the interlocutor’s questions about the task
from Part 3.Insert a thumbs up emoticon next to the answer which you think is correct.

Follow-up activities
•In Part 2 there is a long turn (1 minute) and a short turn (20
seconds).
•A minute is quite a long time to talk. Don’t panic; don’t go
too fast.
•Make sure you address both parts of the instructions for
the long turn.
•Don’t give separate descriptions of each picture. Compare
them from the beginning.
•Don’t interrupt your partner’s turn. Listen so you can
comment afterwards.
Tips for Part 2 of FCE Speaking Paper:

•For the short turn, your comment should be brief,
but you do have time to give reasons for your
feelings or opinion.
•Don’t worry if the interlocutor stops you before
you have finished everything you want to say.
•If you don’t know a word in one of the pictures,
describe what you mean using other words.
•Don’t be afraid to ask the interlocutor for
repetition if you don’t know what you have to do.
