United states declared a war on Germany. Mr. Hansen read a poetry entitled “TREE”. After school, Richard asked Mrs. Hansen

what book she had read from, she said it was called Trees and other poems and landed him the copy.

While Mrs. Hansen was talking to another student he peeked into the New York times and jotted down the address of the editors office.

Mr. Joyce Kilmer a poet has volunteered for service in the army.

Hannah –pretty -blue eyed girl looks like corn silk -blonde hair Some scrawled on Hannah’s book that

“Dirty Hun”. Germans are Huns – barbarians who

will have to be stopped if not they would take over the world.

Richard wrote a letter to Mr. Kilmer. got mesmerized about the poetry that

Mr. Kilmer had written.

Richard shared to Mr. Joyce Kilmer that he likes writing poetry and hid it inside a locked desk drawer. Have never showed to anybody that he could write poetry. So he asked Mr. Kilmer’s opinion whether to share his poetry to others or not.So before anybody sees the letter he drops it off at the post office, not in the mailbox in front of his house.Richard did not expect that Mr. Joyce Kilmer will read his letter, a 15 year old farm boy from Lowa because he is a famous busy man
