My School: High School for Dual Language and Asian Studies
• Located at the heart of Chinatown
• Fifth floor at the former Seward Park High School
• Student population: Most students are Asian Americans and recent immigrants from China (87%)

Everything Started from Student
TeachingFirst year at NYU: observed the Mandarin classes at HSDLAS
Second year at NYU: Student taught Mandarin at HSDLAS
Now: Teach Mandarin as a foreign language to two 10th Grade classes (both double periods)
Teach Native Language Arts to one 9th Grade class (meet three times a week: two double periods plus one single period)

Get familiar with the school culture, class sequence, content and your students.
Work with your CT collaboratively: Keep good communication and be vocal.

18 students (heritage speakers, English-speakers, and former ELLs)
