Only 15% of Advanced Placement computer science exam-takers in 2006 were female.

Only 19% of all CS degrees went to females. (compared to 37% in 1984).

In the US, women hold only 26% of all computing-related occupations.

Only 13% of Fortune 500 technology companies have women corporate officers.

Overview of DigiGirlz Day

One-day event designed to provide high school girls with a better understanding of what a career in technology is all about.

Students interact with Microsoft employees and managers as well as local women in business and government to gain exposure to careers in business and technology

Provides girls with career planning assistance, information about technology and business roles, thought-provoking exercises, and hands-on demonstrations.

Young women can find out about the variety of opportunities available in the high-tech industry and can explore future career paths.

Overview of DigiGirlz Day

Girls grades 10-12 that are registered in a Delaware high school are eligible (Minimum-20; Maximum-150)

No minimum GPA requirement Gift bag for each Participant Breakfast and Lunch Provided Microsoft Bus will be in attendance; girls in groups of 10 will be given a

hands-on walk through of demonstrations on the bus. $0 cost for students Considering scheduling in February/March 2009 To Be Determined: Location and Transportation Logistics
