Book Review
Wish you all a Happy new year, while in the process of bringing this month issue, i realized that becoming a master of subject was not about reading the subject but it’s about applying it. Some sensational news’s make me think about going for this month’s article. It’s a big deal to get caught plagiarizing. Some faculties see copy-paste as a time-saving short-cut for writing journal papers; there are serious consequences to plagia-rism, even if it seems like an easy route to take. A new section called Campus Con-nections was introduced from this issue, to build a foundation of ac-ceptance of all cultures, faculties must intentionally create a climate where they feel a strong sense of belonging, feel confident that their diversity is a source of pride for their students and institution. Once again I invite all to make use of this plat-form to showcase your ideas.

“If you steal
from one author
it’s plagiarism; if
you steal from
many it’s
research”
-Wilson Mizner
Plagiarism is often defined as stealing some-
one else’s ideas. Practically it means
repeating a concept developed by
someone else without attributing it
to them. In academic literature this
is considered a very serious of-
fence.
Plagiarism is something that all peo-
ple do, to a small extent, all the time. We learn by repeating the knowledge of others, and repeat
clever phrases in general conversations. Causes of Plagiarism
Scholars may fear failure or fear taking risks in their own work.
Scholars may have poor time-management skills
Scholars not aware of the consequences of Plagiarisms.
Supervisors may not support scholars for how to research
and document sources Supervisors may pressure scholars for publishing papers in
listed journals for the sake of publishing, that scholars may
believe they are justified in copy and paste.
Evaluators and Departments may fail to report cheating
when it does occur, or may not enforce appro-
priate penalties.
Types of Plagiarism
Direct Plagiarism: Direct plagiarism is the word-
for-word transcription of a section of someone
else’s work, without attribution and without quota-
tion marks.
Self Plagiarism: Self-plagiarism occurs when a
student submits his or her own previous work, or
mixes parts of previous works, without permission
from all professors involved
Mosaic Plagiarism: Mosaic Plagiarism occurs when
a student borrows phrases from a source without
using quotation marks
Accidental Plagiarism: Accidental plagiarism oc-curs when a person neglects to cite their sources, or
misquotes their sources, or unintentionally para-
phrases a source by using similar words, groups of
words
Conclusion
Plagiarism matters seriously because you would be
letting yourself down, you would spoil your reputa-
tion as a scholar, disciplinary procedures may follow,
and there might be lasting consequences which could
limit your job prospects. It matters too because you
would be letting your institution down; it under-
mines the fundamental belief of research studies.

The logical arrangement of the top-
ics maintains our interest level
throughout the book. “Why should
I study this chapter” gives us a cas-
ual introduction for the chapter. I
realize the meaning of “Quick refer-
ence” while I going through the
book. The Previous year QP’s come
with a purpose, where every ques-
tions points to the page numbers in
the book for answers, which obvi-
ously makes it a student friendly.
The Further reading section is my
favorite, which gives a link to all
prescribed book with its page num-
bers, which makes us comfortable
to clarify our doubts.
