John Thomas Ellington Jr., 80, a native of Stafford County, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001, at Mary Washington Hospital.

Mr. Ellington had been the owner of several local contracting businesses since 1951.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 55 and was a World War II Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Elsie Stiles Ellington; a daughter, Sandie "Sissie" Roberts of Maryland; three sons, David Ellington of Fredericksburg, Robert Ellington of Alexandria and the Rev. John Ellington of Hampton; three sisters, Clara Lee of Fredericksburg, Virginia Atkins of Bassett and Cindy Sweger of Illinois; a brother, Bernard J. Ellington of Fredericksburg; and 11 grandchildren.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Found & Sons Funeral Chapels, Fredericksburg, with the Rev. Robert Sizemore officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Laura Green to help defray her medical expenses, c/o Fairview Baptist Church, 900 Charlotte St., Fredericksburg, Va. 22401.
