How Corgis Look Cont.

Corgis have stub tales, and long tales . They usually have large ears. They are very portly (short and chubby) Males weigh about 25 to 30 pounds females

weigh about 24 to 28 pounds.

HISTORY OF CORGIS

Corgis have been herding sheep, cattle, pigs, and other animals for hundreds of years.

The Vikings even used them for herding.

They came from the Wales Pembroke corgis have no ancestor history but

a old folktale that says two children found two dogs (corgis) that they thought were foxes they brought the two dogs home and there parents said they were gifts from fairies. Other legends say fairies used small dogs like corgis to pull carriages into war. But the Cardigan breeds ancestors are collies and other herding dogs.

HEALTH

Corgis need lots of exercise because they get overweight very easily.

They live about 12 to 14 years long rarely they 18 years long.

Corgi’s spines are very long and that makes it very easy for them to have back problems.

Corgis get eye diseases very easily.

Corgi means dwarf dog. Queen Elizabeth the 2 had 16 corgis.

BIRTH

There are 1 to 12 puppies in a litter. They weigh about 10oz at birth. They may inherit diseases like epilepsy,

degenerative myelopathy, and von willebrunds disease.

BREEDS AND DIFFERENCES

There are 2 breeds of corgis the Pembroke, and the Cardigan

Cardigan’s ears are farther apart then the Pembroke’s.

Mostly all of Pembroke’s tales are stub like unlike the Cardigan’s.

The Pembroke breed is a older breed then the Cardigan breed the Pembroke breed is 3,000 years old.
