Why look at revision?

Slater (2012) suggests:

◦Revision is an area that is often not taught well.

◦Revision is sometimes not taught at all.

◦High school students often find revision difficult.Slater, S. (2012) Five Best Ways To Revise For Exams, By An Oxbridge Applications Consultant [Online] http://www.huffingtonpost.com/sarah-slater/exams-best-ways-to-revise-oxbridge_b_1518247.html?ref=uk-universities-education[accessed 8 November 2014]

Implementation?Why is implementation important?

How the project was implemented

A pilot project will be trialled using a pilot group of students

The students will be given a basic brief and will be allowed to use the web tool of their choice

The students will be encouraged to be creative problem solvers who make the decisions about their learning

The results will be shown as a Case Study

The project will then be improved before continuing

Who was the pilot group?Angela Phillips’s Year 8 class from 2014 where chosen.

Reasons for choice of group included:

Year 8 is the first year of Senior School in South Australia

The students had already completed a Mathematics Examination in Semester 1, which gave them some basis to compare their experiences

The students do not have any external examinations during Year 8

The data from the group could be compared with the groups data from Semester 1 and other groups data
