• Textbook definition of theory- A set of systematic, informed hunches about the way things work

Kristi’s definition of theory

• Theory to me is what one thinks about something and or how it should work or be done to them. It’s there personal opinion of how something should work, but with sufficient evidence to back up one’s theory.

The Organizational Theory of Success

The Organizational Theory of Success is a theory which states in order for one to be successful in their educational endeavors and receive grades of an A or B one needs to be organized by keeping a binder with dividers, hole-punched papers, enough supplies such as pencils, pens, paper, etc. In order to keep everything in a clean and easy to access fashion. This is because it is easier to understand all material and be more motivated when everything is easy to understand and clean.

I believe my theory is more of a objective theory because it:

Predicts what will happen if you follow this particular theory, it is predicated one will get a A or B letter grade

It is a simple theory and very easy for one to follow

This theory is very useful

History

I created this theory of Organizational Success probably when I was in middle school and decided from this point on I wanted to receive no grades lower then an A or B in any of my future educational endeavors. During this time period in my life my parents were taking my educational success more seriously then ever before and I soon began to realize if I wanted to be successful and be accepted to the high school and college of my choice I needed to start proving myself to my parents, teachers, and most importantly my worst and harshest critic, myself.

I wanted to impress my parents who were becoming more concerned with my grades and school work

Theory Development

My top four most important aspects of creating this theory were:

1. I wanted to find a path to stay on in order to get better grades2. I wanted a easy plan to follow to achieve my goals3. I chose obtainable ideas and goals to follow that I knew I could

meet if I tried really hard.4. I chose ideas and things I could change that would work for me

while being in middle school, high school, and now college. Ideas such as being organized. This idea can be used at different points of one’s educational path.

Theory ClassificationScientific/Objective Standard 1: Explanation of the data: States a good objective theory explains an event or human behavior.

The Organizational Theory of Success meets standard 1 because it brings clarity and makes easy sense of one’s educational plan and classes when it can very easily get hectic. Keeping a binder with dividers for each class as I touched on in the theory is helpful and clarifies the confusion of jumbling together more then one class at a time.

It also explains one’s behaviors and what is needed to succeed. One needs to be organized by keeping detailed notes, enough supplies at all times paper, pens, pencils. Also be using dividers to keep each class separate from one another.

The Organizational Theory of Success meets standard 2

because it predicts what can happen in the future if one follows this theory closely. By following this theory precisely one, as I state in the theory, can and will be successful. It is always easier to be successful by being organized because it is easy to keep tabs on all of the material when it is kept in a nice clean binder. I can assure anyone who follows my tips and theologies on being organized will be successful. My prediction aspect of this theory certainly meets standard 2 of predicting future events.

because it is very simple and easy to follow. I have not come up with a incredibly outrageous and detailed theory or ideas to follow. But rather a few tips and ideas one can incorporate into their daily educational plan in order to be more successful. One doesn’t have to go out of their way and or make any drastic changes. Rather keep a organized binder with dividers for each class. Keep an extensive amount of lined paper at easy access, enough pens and pencils for taking notes. Also setting aside two hours a day for each class one is taking, just for studying and to be able to keep on top of things for each specific class I think is crucial. I think the theory certainly meets standard 3 because everything is explained in great detailed and listed so it is easy to understand.

Scientific/Objective Standard 4: Hypothesis that can be tested: States

The Organizational Theory of Success meets standard 4 because it is testable. If one wants to try a few of the organizational tips out and see if grades have improved and gone up, this is possible to do. If one sees no improvement, well they have tested out the theory and it doesn’t work for them, so one can stop using or following the organizational tips explained in the theory. The theory was created in order to work around my life at the time. Meaning this theory can be incorporated and also is as easy to incorporate into one’s day to day.


Test the theory out and see if it works for you and your specific situation. Analyze the situation and see if have had success with the theory or it simply doesn’t work for you!

Scientific/Objective Standard 5: Practical Utility: States

The Organizational Theory of Success meets standard 5 because it is useful. As standard 5 explains a good objective theory should offer good and practical advice. My theory of organizational success I think offers great advice and is most definitely practical. As I stated before this theory can be so easily incorporated into one’s educational plans and is not hard for anyone to begin doing. It’s practical because one isn’t making huge drastic changes in one’s life or day-to-day routines, rather simply improving one’s habits and putting more effort into one’s education.


This is a great quote and something I believe in. My Organizational theory of

success is extremely simple and easy to add into anyone’s lifestyle and

educational plans. Being simple and following a simple success plan is the

ultimate sophistication and achievement!

This theory can be very easily used in school and educational settings. My personal experiences with this theory and these ideas is I’ve had great educational success due to being neat and organized. If one keeps a binder and all course materials in it with dividers keeping each class separate and also setting aside two hours of study time per class certainly helped improve my grades and ever since I began practicing this theory I have not received anything lower then an A or B letter grade in each class

This theory can be very easily used in finances and keeping one’s finances in check and organized. My mother has used these guidelines and ideas of keeping multiple folders for each aspect of her finances for many years and has never had one check bounce or anything, She has always had the idea also, to set aside two hours or so a week to concentrate on finances alone and keep track of bank accounts, etc.

This theory can be very easily used in other aspect of one’s life as well. My good friend is a great cook and is attending culinary school and keeps all of her recipes in a box with labels for each one. This is similar to my educational organizational ways, but incorporates day to day routines like how to keep one’s recipes organized and neat.


Kristi’s Communication Theory

Human communication I believe is based upon messages we send one another without even talking. Communication is everything in our society all we do is communicate. Through Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and other multiple multimedia sites and outlets. However what we sometimes do without saying anything can be even more powerful then words themselves.

And in closing…

I have had a great time putting together this project and have learned quite a bit along the way. I have shared with you my organizational skills and techniques and what I think one should do in order to live a more organized and put together life and fulfill goals and be successful.

I have also shared three main detailed examples of my theory in day to day life and how easy it can be for anyone to incorporate and start practicing in order to be more successful in all different aspects of one’s life.
