Do we really need to improve our communication?

Page 4: Communication skills edit 1(ali)

• Sometimes, it is a situation or problem that makes communication difficult and so the things we know about great communication fall apart.

• Much of what we try to communicate to others and what others try to communicate to us, gets misunderstood, causing conflict and frustration in personal and professional relationships.

Task 1:• Get out of your room and stop using email or

IM (Instant Messaging) as your primary methods of communication.

• Meet friends, family or colleagues and start interacting. (Prefer to communicate in English for improving language)

• Break the ice and open the door for future communication.

Task 2:

• Listen more than talking (its tough to listen with your mouth).

• Avoid verbal vomit syndrome (constantly talking unnecessarily). Ask relevant questions and then carefully listen to the answers.

Task 3:

• Make face to face communication part of your daily routine.

• Spare time to engage your colleagues, friends or family in communication.

• Invite someone for tea, coffee or lunch and have chat on any topic of your choice.

Remember: Leave your cell phone aside once you start to communicate, as it leads to distraction.
