We currently have the Eco-Schools Silver Award and are working towards the Green Flag.

We have an Eco-committee that have been elected and meet every half term but we also have a weekly Eco-club where any pupil who wants to help is welcome.

The Eco-club meets every Wednesday at lunch time and after school.

Pupils can work their way up the ladder from being part of the the Eco-action team, then become Eco-rangers, Eco-ambassadors and finally, Eco-captains.

We have joined litter picks with Keep Wales Tidy and been on a trip

to see the local ‘CWM Environmental’ recycling facility in Johnstown in

Carmarthen. We did this to try and understand how what we are doing

at school helps the environment.

We joined RagBag last summer and have had three collections

already, and we are about to have a fourth soon! We have been raising

the money to improve the school grounds. We also joined the Recycool

scheme which helps to encourage people to recycle their old phones,

CDs, DVDs and tablets so you can always bring these in for us.

In the garden we have planted vegetables, herbs and other

wonderful plants which will supply us with food and oxygen. We also

keep a wormery and a compost bin and reuse tyres to make raised beds.

We are starting a blog on the Jointhepod website, so see you there!

Eco-clubJoin us for club on Wednesday lunchtimes in Room 5. Bring a packed lunch. You can also come Wednesday after school to help in the garden!

This year on Eco-Day we presented an Eco-assembly with guest speakers from Eco-Schools and Size of Wales.

Then pupils joined lessons run by each curriculum area, who provided some exciting activities that linked the subjects we learn to the environment and global citizenship.

Some lucky pupils also had workshops with Size of Wales Rainforest Project, YnniDa Energy, TATA Steel and Camarthenshire County Council Sustainability Officers.
