Procedure:

1. Explain that the objective of the project is to produce a class newspaper which can be given to friends and family.

Brainstorm the types of things that could appear in such a newspaper, for example:

Reports on class activities such as outings or trips

Reports about what they have learned from or about each other (good for a multicultural class)

Stories Articles about personal interests or hobbies Articles about films or books they like Poems Word games Pictures and photographs…

2.Appoint an editorial team.

Allocate responsibility for creating the content to other members of the class. Make sure everyone has something.

3.Set a deadline and establish a timetablefor creating the content. Allow time forlanguage support and rewrites if necessary.

Content can be created as homework or youcan set aside time in each lesson to work onit.

• 4. As the content is created and corrected the editorial team decide the design and layout of the newspaper.

All the elements are collected together then assembled on a word processor.

5. A first draft is printed and examined by

the whole class to find any language

mistakes. They agree on the order in which

the content has been placed by the editorial

team.

6.Once any changes has been implemented

the final version is printed and each member of the class is provided with a copy or copies

to give their family and friends
