MLA Format -- Basic Rules• Basic Format: Author’s Name. Title of Item.

Publication Information• List in alphabetical order. Double space each entry.• Underline or italicize titles of books and periodicals.

• Start each cite at the margin; indent rest five spaces.

• Authors’ names are last name first for first author only. If more than one, rest are first name then last name for remaining authors. Separate each using a comma (,).

Additional Rules for Online Sources

1. Title of the project or database (underlined)

2. Name of the editor of the project or database (if given)

3. Electronic publication information, including version number (if relevant and if not part of the title), date of electronic publication or of the latest update, and name of any sponsoring institution or organization

4. Date of access and electronic address

• If you cannot find some of this information, cite what is available.
