POLVORONS: “Polvorons” are typical from Spain, one of the most appreciated comes from Seville. They’re rounded and can contain hazelnut or other things; we usually eat them during Christmas celebrations.

The “torró” is a sweet food that we usually eat during Christmas celebrations, like:Christmas Eve, St Esteve (Boxing day), New year, etc. It’s a strong tradition in Catalonia.

My Christmas menu is composed by a first course with a “galets” soup (it’s pasta filled with meat balls) and a second course of shellfish. As a dessert: pineapple or lemon sorbet.

In Spain is a tradition to sing carols. A carol is a musical and poetic form that can be sung in Spanish, Catalan…Carol is simply a genre of song whose lyrics refer to Christmas and that is traditionally sung at that time.Here in our school every year we make a different carol in each class. We had fun singing carols!For example this year we sang "The Snowman" and also sang the carol "is a desire"

The nativity is a representation of the birth of Jesus.This 6th year we have made a nativity with plasticine, cork, chopsticks…The exhibition of this nativity was on 12 December 2014.

This year we have also made a nativity scene, which was on 14th December 2014. This nativity scene was the representation of Jesus, the shepherds, the merchants, the angels…Every year we put the crib at home, put the manger is a tradition with your family and friends.It is fun to make nativities of Jesus!

Pastorets is a typical play performed during Christmas time in many parts of Catalonia.Here at our school we also do this. It is performed by 4th ESO. They are very good!

CHRISTMAS in CATALONIAChristmas tree:

The Christmas tree is a fir in which we put decorations, Christmas balls, a star tip fir, angels, ribbons, lights…It is a tradition to put the Christmas tree at Christmas in every house. As every year, I put the Christmas tree with my parents.This year children made these "Christmas trees" so original at English class!
