About the Program

In Australia, disability support and aged care courses are in high demand and the graduates of Certificate III in Individual Support Course will be qualified to work in both segments. Once completed, students can continue to study further units, i.e. Certificate IV or Diploma in either disability support or aged care

Course Purpose

•The course is designed for workers in the community and residential setting

•Workers provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing/disability

•They follow a personalised care plan. They can use their discretion and judgement in delivering appropriate care as required

Accommodation Support Worker

•Work in the community and/or residential facilities

•Carry out activities to maintain personal care and/or other activities for people with a disability

•Undertake activities related to an individualized plan, and report directly to a supervisor

Possible Job Outcome Personal Care Assistant

•Work for private clients, home health providers or agencies that offer services to senior citizens and the disabled

•Course duration: Maximum of 26 weeks, with 160 hours of practical placement

•Assessments: Knowledge based tests, Simulation based assessments, Practical placement book, Workplace competency record
