Getting Started

• Begin at the home page of your course

• Click the + icon at the top of the left side navigation pane

• Select content area• Give the area a name

– Modules if you plan more than one

– Unit title if you plan for one

• Do not make the area available to users

• Click the submit button

Setting the Stage

• The module page should begin with an introductory piece that sets expectations and provides a guide of how to proceed through the modules

• Here we will build the page as a document that remains above the module list

Setting the Stage

• From the build content menu select blank page

• In the content box add in information about what users should expect, how to move through the module, and what to do when they are finished

• Make sure users can access the page immediately

• You may add content now if desired• Note: This page can be created and content

added at the end once the module takes shape

Module Setup

• Next we will build the learning module landing page– Starting point for the learning module– Will contain all content elements and assessments– “A self-contained lesson”

• From the build content menu select learning module

• Give the module a name and an optional description

• Determine if you want users to proceed through the module in a linear fashion or if they are allowed to move freely through the content

• Choose to make the learning module available or to hide it– It is hidden from users anyway while the module

content area is made unavailable

• Date restrictions can be used to have a module appear automatically at a given point in time

• Decide if you want students to access the table of contents

• Removing it encourages users to move sequentially through the module

• Press the submit button to create the learning module page
