Build a Beach HouseYou have just been granted a loan to build a new beach house!After surveying the land carefully you realize that the land that you purchased has certain characteristics due to the location. How can you still build your dream home and not have it destroyed due to events in nature?

Investigate :30Beach House Locations:1 - Nome, Alaska2 - Ko Phangan, Thailand3 - Big Sur, California4 - Punaluu, Hawaii5 - Port Fourchon, Louisiana

Google your location and determine the following:• What is the climate? Look at seasons and

temperatures.• What natural resources are available?• What are the environmental issues? • What is the terrain of the beach?• How expensive is the land?

Brainstorm :30You will build a 3 bedroom, 2 bath beach house.

Brainstorm ideas for your house. • Where will it be located in relation to the beach• Elevation of the house• Overall structure – tall, short, etc.• How will the house offer protection from nature and the

elements?• How will the environment be respected?• What are the basic needs for your home – plumbing, electric,

protection, HVAC, location• Aesthetics – overall design

Plan a Design :30• Visit the STEM shop and preview materials to build your house.

• Plan a design using the materials. You will use a scale of 1cm=3 feet. Final design should be labeled.

The team design must meet the following criteria:• 3 Bedroom, 2 bath• Front and side elevation with waterline and terrain (mountains, rivers,
