Introduction The characteristic chosen by our
group was Blood Group. All our data is original and none of it is duplicate.
So, What is Blood Group? A blood group is a classification of blood based on
the presence or absence of inherited antigenic substances on the surface of red blood cells (RBCs).
Classification of Blood Groups
ABO BLOOD GROUP SYSTEM
• There are 4 characteristics of Blood Group but there are only 3 genes governing the blood group. They are :-
1. A2. B3. O4. AB
Out of the following A & B are equally dominant while O is recessive.
Phenotype and Genotype
Phenotype Genotype
A AA/AO
B BB/BO
AB AB
O OO
RBC Compatibility• Blood group AB individuals have both A and B antigens on the
surface of their RBCs, and their blood plasma does not contain any antibodies against either A or B antigen. Therefore, an individual with type AB blood can receive blood from any group, but cannot donate blood to any group other than AB. They are known as universal recipients.
• Blood group A individuals have the A antigen on the surface of their RBCs, and blood serum containing specific antibodies against the B antigen. Therefore, a group A individual can receive blood only from individuals of groups A or O, and can donate blood to individuals with type A or AB.
• Blood group B individuals have the B antigen on the surface of their RBCs, and blood serum containing specific antibodies against the A antigen. Therefore, a group B individual can receive blood only from individuals of groups B or O and can donate blood to individuals with type B or AB.
• Blood group O individuals do not have either A or B antigens on the surface of their RBCs, and their blood serum contains specific anti-A and anti-B antibodies against the A and B blood group antigens. Therefore, a group O individual can receive blood only from a group O individual, but can donate blood to individuals of any ABO blood group. They are known as universal donors.
Aim of Surveying
• To check the ratio of different blood groups in people.
• To analyze the +/- blood group ratio in people.
• To find the majority and minority blood group.

Analysis• Total Samples Collected-125
• AB Blood Group-21• A Blood Group-21
• B Blood Group-50• O Blood Group-33
• +/- Ratio-115/10=23/2• + % =90%• -%=10%
Detailed Analysis
• A+ =21• A- =1• B+ =42• B- =6• O+ =32• O- =2
• AB+ =20• AB- =1
CONCLUSIONS• Majority Blood Group=B+(42)• 2nd Majority Blood Group=O+(32)• Minority Blood Groups A-(1), AB-(1), B-(6), O-(2)• Out of every 100 people, 90 are +Rh positive while the
remaining 10 are Rh negative.• B+ and O+ blood group people constitute more than 50% of
the total.• A+ and AB+ blood group people constitute about 30% of the
total.
