Living on the Web

The age of progress

Mantra : Faster, Better, Cheaper

we were promised relief from tedium

we got the white collar factory

we were promised autonomy

we got binders full of corporate policy

we were promised a sense of purpose

we got the tyranny of fulfillment targets

we were promised a chance to contribute

we got meetings where form triumphs over substance

we were promised an outlet for creativity

we got re-trained on re-engineering

In the age of a revolutionary change

what is in store for us ?

Re-engineer or Transform ?

Transformation

Re-Engineering

Innovation : Limited by Imagination

Incremental improvement is not enough

kaizen is out

business process reengineering is out

knowledge management is too slow

The gap between what can be imagined and what can be accomplished has never been smaller

we can now walk backward from our imagination rather than walk forward from the existing past

But those who can visualize a new reality are vastly outnumbered by those who cannot
