BIOGRAPHY

His lifeMichelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni, known as Michelangelo was born in Caprese, Italy on 6th of March, 1475 and died in Rome on 18th of February, 1564. He was the second of five sons. The family Buonarroti Simone lived in Florence for over three hundred years and had belonged to the party of the Guelphs; many of them had held public office.

His career⇝ He was an Italian sculptor, painter, architect, poet, and

engineer of the High Renaissance. He developed his artistic work over more than seventy years between Florence and Rome.

⇝ He triumph in all the arts in which he worked, characterized by perfectionism. The sculpture was his favourite and the first to be dedicated.

⇝ In April 1488, with twelve year old he joined the workshop of the famous Ghirlandaio, and that marks the beginning of his career.

Curiosities⇝ His father made him study grammar in Florence, but

Michelangelo wanted to be an artist, and when he told his father that he wanted to follow the path of art, they had many discussions.

⇝ It is said that he was homosexual because of his natural vocation for the art, for the physical forms and the perfect masculine body.

⇝ Michelangelo was the first Western artist to have two biographies published in life.

⇝ One day Pietro Torrigiano punched him and broke his nose; as a result, he kept snub nose lifetime, as we can see in all his portraits.
