ASSESSMENT TASK 1

Page 2: Assessment task 1 educ 1751

Technology, as an educational tool, has come a long way.

Page 3: Assessment task 1 educ 1751

THE SKY IS THE LIMIT!!!!

Page 4: Assessment task 1 educ 1751

With the recognition of ICT as a valuable learning tool, students quite literally have an infinite amount of knowledge at their finger tips.

(but with tightening OH&S legislation, we couldn’t have stage 5 History Students scaling the

top shelf of this library to grab a book on the Effects of war !!!!)

Page 5: Assessment task 1 educ 1751

A more modern approach to this lesson would be found in the use of technology to engage students in the content.

WHY GIVE STUDENTS THIS??

Page 7: Assessment task 1 educ 1751

WHEN THEY HAVE ACCESS TO THIS….

Page 8: Assessment task 1 educ 1751

There are certainly some great digital artefacts out there.

Page 9: Assessment task 1 educ 1751

One brilliant digital artefact is the free audio recording program Audacity. The students, instead of just reading and regurgitating information about, for example, the

effects of war, students could create podcasts, audio blogs, even their own song!

Page 10: Assessment task 1 educ 1751

Communication between teacher, student and curriculum moves to a whole new level….

Page 11: Assessment task 1 educ 1751

Here is a teacher using audacity in conjuction with other classroom technologies to provide his students with an amazing new realm to learn in.

Page 12: Assessment task 1 educ 1751

One not so reputable digital artefactwould be wikipedia.

TEACHER: How did you come to this conclusion? Was the Information from a trustworthy source?

Page 13: Assessment task 1 educ 1751

Wikipedia is open for anyone to submit information.

Page 14: Assessment task 1 educ 1751

(not everyone is a reliable source)

Page 15: Assessment task 1 educ 1751

• WIKIPEDIA IS NOT GOING TO ENGAGE STUDENTS WITH SUBJECT CONTENT. THE

INFORMATION THEY LEARN MAY BE FALSE, BIASED, OR

COMPLETELY MISGUIDED AND INCORRECT.

Page 16: Assessment task 1 educ 1751

In order to nurture student learning to engage and prompt further learning, analysis and opinion, students need reliable, accessible and

engaging material.

(the internet)

Page 17: Assessment task 1 educ 1751

In my digital artefact project, I will be using technology such as Audacity to show its potential in the classroom.

+

Page 18: Assessment task 1 educ 1751

With technology advancing just as quick as jobs that didn’t exist yesterday, we can only wonder what a free resource like audacity will be out dated by in the future!
