embellishment with each kind

•Unity of Time: No unity of time, starts on 28-01-91 and ends

after 5+ years

•Unity of Action: To some extent it was lacking, there were

some stories of different characters which were not

contributing and not connected to main plot. For example story

of Dacoit Maskaar and his suffering family, story of Sallam

•Unity of Place: No Unity of place, audience forgets sometimes

where the characters are and where the action is taking place,

Quetta, Mach, Afghanistan Border, Karachi or Islamabad.

• Thought•Every character has specific type of though•Thought determines the actions of chracter at many occasions

• Diction•No refined language but sweet accent of characters have made it beautiful

• Song•Songs of Bashir (Domestic servant), song of ASP Azhar and Sara, songs played on tape by ASP Azhar and Sara, background song by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Sahab and Begum Noor Jahan Sahiba

• Spectacle•Set arrangements are realistic especially of Police Station

AN IDEAL TRAGIC HERO AND ASP AZHAR

• Goodness:•outspoken, impatient, “extreme” dedication to his work, imprudent and extravert but still there is no moral flaw in the hero•Help others, patriotic, civic responsibility, work against drug mafia to save the coming generations (in his own words)

• Likeness:•Attracted towards Sara, start to love her and eventually proposes her•Reaction on Dawood’s death and emotions in front of Dawood’s mother•Hangout, joke and chill out with his friends•Reaction on death of a constable•People usullay do not involve their friends in their professional matters and dangerous tasks

AN IDEAL TRAGIC HERO AND ASP AZHAR

• Consistency:

• Hero is Honest, upright, dutiful (even sacrifice his

personal life for official tasks), responsible, patriotic,

lively, sensible, dedicated, out spoken, Visionary and

patriotic

• Appropriateness:

• ASP Azhar eats, drinks, thinks, feels, lives and behave

like a typical police officer

• Anagnorisis:

• There is no one specific event in the life of hero to be labeled

as “Anagnorisis

• Peripety:

•When a government official in Islamabad authorize him to fight

against drug mafia and other criminals undercover/ unofficially

with the help of his friends

• Hamartia:

• He decides to use his friend as undercover agents/ gorillas to

fight against drug mafia

•When he accepts and act upon Hameed’s advice to accept the

bribe (offered by Salman-the uncrowned king of drug mafia)

and trick him eventually

• Final Phase of Tragedy:

• From Happiness to Misery

• ASP Azhar was happy on taking money from

Salman and eventually trapping him.
