ART IN IBERIANPENINSULA
DURING MIDDLE AGES

Most buildings cannot be classified into a single architechtural style. They were built in
different moments of time, so the monuments have mixed features.
For example, Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela has got a Romanesque, Gothic
and Barroque styles. Students in 5th grade will find easier to
understand the styles if divide them into four groups.
There are four main artistic styles in the Middle Ages in Iberian
Peninsula:- Islamic
- Romanesque (Románico)- Mudéjar
- Gothic (Gótico)
1. ISLAMIC STYLE
It is the style that we could find in Al-Andalus, that is to say in
the part conquered by Muslims.

In the North of Iberian Peninsula, Christians built lots of churches.
They were built at the beginning of Middle Ages, so most of them are not under
good conditions.
2. ROMANESQUE STYLE

3. GOTHIC STYLE
The Gothic style is really famous for its wonderful cathedrals
