LOCATION• Almeria is a province of Andalusia,
Spain, located in the South-East of Spain on the Mediterranean Sea.
HISTORY• Almería was founded due to the need for a
better defense system for the regional Arab towns. It was Abd-al-Rahman III who founded the Alcazaba, which gave this city its name: Al-Mari'yah.
Monuments In Almeria there are lots of monuments like the Alcazaba, the statue of San Cristóbal, the ancient walls of “ Jayrán ”, the beachs, the desert of Tabernas or the Indalo.
ATTRACTIONS• There is lots of attractions like the
beachs, and the desert of Tabernas too.
COSTUMES• Fair in honor of the Virgen del Mar is the top in the
festive offer of our city, in the middle of August and turned into a great meeting point for almerienses around the world and visitors who want to discover the welcoming spirit of our citizens. Alongside the exhibition, a wide range of popular celebrations that combine the festive character of the Andalusian with the open spirit of the Mediterranean. Carnivals, Easter, Cruces de Mayo, San Juan’s night, local traditions, main events.
