LANA DEL REY – BORN TO DIE

On the front cover of the album, the main artist is the main image. This is conventional of albums as it helps to promote their star image. The artist name is at the top of the album and the largest text which is to catch the audiences eye. The colour scheme of the cover is blue and white, which contrasts nicely. The album name is also on the front which is conventional as it informs the audience of what the album is called. There is also a sticker which lets us know what tracks are included without turning over. On the back there is a track list which is conventional of the back. It also follows the colour scheme of the front but reversed. The inside is very simplistic carrying through the white theme however the CD has red roses on which does break up the block of white. The spine tells us the name of the artist and the album, again the same colour scheme.

ONE REPUBLIC - NATIVE

The front of this doesn’t have an image of the artist which is challenging conventions which is what I am planning to do with mine therefore it’s interesting to see how they have constructed it. It still follows the conventions of having the artist name on the front and the album name underneath, which I intend to follow. The album is called native which I think the front of this album does represent a ‘native’ feel as it has animals from the wild in it. The back has the track lists like most albums, it also has the copyright information in the corner and the barcode at the bottom which I will remember when making mine.

The colour scheme has creams, oranges, yellows, browns but not very ‘pop’ in your face colours instead the album looks a lot more indie. The spine again like the other shows the artists name and the album name.

The inside includes the rainbow background which follows the colour scheme and the CD is similar to the back theme which

shows consistency throughout the album pack.

LOVE.ANGEL.MUSIC.BABY

This is a pop album, the back and the front includes a image of the artist which is very conventional of pop albums/posters. It also relates with Gwen’s video for the first song What You Waiting For? It uses imagery from this, the Alice in Wonderland theme. Which creates an overall house style between her album and the video. She also uses a track list at the back of the album, conventional. The inside is the CD which has the same pattern as a royal crown would have for example, representing the ideas the album is selling of ‘luxury’, ‘fame’, wealth etc.

From her video, same style clock

LANA DEL REY: HONEYMOON

Similar to the other products, this album does follow conventions by having the artist on the front, it also continues around the back with a different shot of the car but still with Lana in the image. As the others the back also has the tracklist on which is the convention on the back.

The colour scheme is the same throughout the CD, red, blue, greens. This is conventional because it keeps the continuity throughout the CD and overall is more appealing.

ELLIE GOULDING - DELIRIUM

Ellie Goulding features a lot in her album which is conventional of a pop artist to. Especially for females, she is not wearing many clothes which does conform to theories like the male gaze. It also shows her confidence. The back includes a tracklist, barcode and institution which is the standard things to find on the back of the album. The spine includes the artist name/album which is a convention because it means that the audience can see it from the side of the album.
