INTRODUCTION OF THE OBJECT :

• Discovered by a Soviet

Afghan archaeologists team.

• Northern side of Jauzjan

province in Tillaya Tepa or

golden hill of Afghanistan in

1978.

• Belong to a Bactrian

nomadic chieftain.

• wore by a princess.

HISTORY OF THE SURVIVING OF THE OBJECT

After the invasion of the Soviet Union1979, the

Taliban regime, and the Afghan civil war, the golden

crown along with other objects were hidden and

locked safely under the Presidential Palace until

2004.

Golden Crown along with other objects revolved a

culture Eclectic, and Hellenized.

Representing a mixture of Indian, Central Asian,

Mediterranean, China, Iranian and Hellenistic styles.

TILLAYA TEPA (1ST CENTURY)

WHAT IT TELL US ABOUT INTERNATIONAL RELATION

• Ancient Afghanistan`s trade links and relation with outside and

ancient world.

•Silk road importance for Afghanistan , and regions.

• Exchanged cultures, languages, religions, and ideas

• The objects also tell us about the civilizations existed in both

side of Amu River (Oxus), Genghis Khan and Alexander the

Great.

WHAT WAS GOING ON IN 1ST CENTURY? • Pre-Islamic period of Afghanistan.

• North side of Afghanistan was conquered by,

Aryan later on by Darius the Great, Persian,

Alexander the Great and followed by Greco-Bactrian

Kingdom.

• Spread of Buddhism in east Asia.

• Rise of Christianity and great migrations.

• Rise of Byzantine Empire in the east.

• Trade among different regions through silk road.

WHY I CHOSE THIS OBJECT ?

• Its beautiful and it’s unique in the term of works art.• It tells us about the rich culture of Afghanistan and regions.•Stories behind of the surviving of the objects are from one side interesting and from other side painful.• Tell us about Afghanistan international relations. • Tell us about the Soviet Union invasion, the Taliban regime, and the Afghan Civil war.
