Family Friendliness at

Geevor Tin Mine

Small grant to improve family friendliness

A selection of play equipment was purchased to create a ‘sensory play area’

Our project was to ‘trial’ this equipment and assess the effectiveness of it

First Friday:

‘Trial’ equipment

Compose ‘Q&A Today”

Second Friday:

Set up equipment in chosen location

Feedback

Third Friday:

Continued trials...

Learn how to build ‘sensory environment’

Construct it in a way that was most appropriate and effective

Position in a suitable location

Was the Hard Rock Museum really the best place for it?? 2012 Room!

Tunnel: Entrance and Exit!

Ball Pond?

Somewhere where adults can let their children play in safety

“Message needs to be put out that there is something for younger children...Under 3’s and 4’s especially”

The issue of the dynamo torches...

‘Shit Bucket’?

Tunnel? Longer and EXIT tunnel is crucial

Summer Location...

Grassy area outside ‘model tunnel room’

Fencing is crucial however

Seating area for adults? Benches?

2012 room = Ideal location Good size

Close to reception/cafe and changing facilities

Changing facilities needed closer however?

Except for the torches, the equipment was effective, but arguably need more? Two tunnels, balls?

For continued feedback on the family friendliness of the site, the questionnaire could be available in the 2012 room...

Thank you to Rebecca, Nick and Claire and all those that have helped us!

Any Questions??
