Academic Standard of SMIU Leads all Public Sector Universities in Karachi

The aim of this report was to investigate standard of SMIU. The results indicate the majority of student agreed with academic system of SMIU. They feel Proud that we are studying in Alma Mater of Quaid-e-Azam with affordable fees structure and air conditioned class rooms with multimedia and the Computer labs are fully equipped with latest systems. Television studio, FM studio and modern library are in progress. the future of SMIU is bright. Students wish more facilities like as transport facilities, standardized cafeteria, game facilities, access internet and more…

Abstract

The Greatest distinction of Sindh Madressah has been that the founder of Pakistan, Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, studied here for the longest spell of his academic life from 1887 to 1892 and revered his Alma-Mater to the extent that the bequeathed one-third of his personal property of Sindh Madressah through his last will.

The institution also produce some of the leading luminaries of Pakistan Including Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto,Sir Ghulam Hussain Hidayatullah,Haji Sir Abdullah Haroon, Dr.Umer Bin Muhammad Doudpota and Allama I.I Kazi, in addition to spreading the light of Education far and Wide. Sindh Madressatul Islam began its journey as a university by establishing initially five departments with highly QualifiedAnd experienced teaching staff, About half of whom are PhDs. The Departments are:

Introduction

Sindh Madressatul Islam was established by a great educationist and visionary of his times, Khan Bhadur Hassanally Effendi (1830-1895). The institution was declared open on 1st September 1885 and the foundation stone of its main building was laid by the Viceroy of India, Lord Dufferin,on 14thth November 1887.

Literature Review

Findings from a five-year investigation on the factors affecting the inclusion of students with disabilities in standards-based reform across three states, six districts (including urban, suburban, and rural), and 10 high schools is reported. Overall, the authors state that special education programs need to interact more effectively with district and state accountability reforms in order to promote positive outcome for students with disabilities. Most states have not outlined mechanisms to ensure that IEPs align with content standards. Other key findings included the following:There is limited interaction between general and special education teachers, and there are few co-teaching opportunities.

• Materials that special education teachers use often do not pertain to the same content areas or standards earmarked for general education students, and the quality and related teacher resources for these textbooks are often of poor quality.

• Teachers, both general and special education, need training on how to link standards, assessment, and curriculum.

• The authors make several recommendations:• The IEP should be a central mechanism for promoting standards-based

instruction.• Teacher preparation programs should address the need for inclusion.• Teachers should be offered continuous professional development on

meeting standards through their curricula.• Administrators should serve as “instructional leaders who understand the

academic challenges of including all students, including those with disabilities, in a standards-based curriculum”

• This report is an evaluation of Pew-funded grants to seven urban districts for implementation of standards-based systemic reform. Findings indicate that the districts (located across the country) faced significant barriers to increasing student achievement during the four years they received funding, including: resources developed for the professional development of teachers, developing effective assessment and accountability systems, and unclear expectations between school personnel and administrations regarding alignment of instruction and alignment.

• Overall,

• “creating an infrastructure to support teacher learning, building a rich and constructive assessment and accountability system, and finding the right balance of authority and discretion present significant challenges to district leaders” (p. iii) in urban districts. Taken as a whole, instructional outcomes and expectations need to be defined as carefully as those for student achievement and learning. Policymakers and educators need to focus on issues related to instruction (e.g., curricula, teacher professional development) especially in the current high stakes environment.

Survey collection boxes were located in every questionnaires.

No personal information was collected; the survey was voluntary and anonymous.

There was an 85% response rate to the questionnaire. A breakdown of the responses is listed below in Table . It can be clearly seen from the results that SMIU give the quality of education as compare to other public sectors Universities.

Results

Sindh Madressatul Islam University has a Great environment for education. Education provided in SMIU is up to the work, student are capable to completing the modern era. Student said that the future of SMIUis bright ,top 10 universities of the Pakistan. They wish more facilities like as transport facilities, standardized cafeteria, game facilities, access internet and more.

Conclusion

We Recommend that the student of SMIU should be proud to being student of Alma Mater of Quaid-e-Azam and they should motivate others student to take the admission in SMIU.
