The Future of Online Learning in Brunei Darussalam

Abstract
The role of online learning is an imminent one in the future of education. With the advent of e-learning in Brunei Darussalam decision makers must take into consideration online learning as an integral part of the system and thus the planning of it must reflect the needs of the learning society. The issue at hand is - have the education system prepared itself for this change if it wants to keep up with the international society’s growing inclination to online education. This paper discusses the theoretical impact of implementing the online learning module onto the education system of Brunei Darussalam socially, economically and culturally by means of analyzing already established online education systems from the international academia. Advantages of the module are elaborated and juxtaposed against existing learning modules in Brunei to illustrate its beneficial value. A research study was also carried out on the learning society to illustrate the preference to online learning owing to its flexibility in many variables. The practicalities of this module are discussed in this paper using first-hand experiences of the author, a student of the online learning module, as well as past and present students of the module to further suggest its capacity in becoming the most methodical path to learning.
