DESCRIPTION

“A Minute of Peace” represents a series of goals and events that will take place in over 200 world territories and 1000’s of cities from October 10th, 2009 until October 10th, 2010. On October 10th, 2010 at 10:10 AM across every time zone, all UN Member States and other territories will join the rest of the world in a global peace holiday. This day will start in a ‘Minute of Peace’ followed by huge parades, events and festivities in cities, and other territories around the world. These missions and events will introduce the six Culture of Peace Mission Statements common to all societies, cultures and nations via various methods of communication such as events, conferences, house meetings, Educations system, Internet and more. 1. RESPECT ALL LIFE 2. REJECT VIOLENCE 3. SHARE WITH OTHERS 4. LISTEN TO UNDERSTAND 5. PRESERVE THE PLANET 6. REDISCOVER SOLIDARITY And to be implemented in: Education, Social Work and life, Economy, Trade, Technology, Environment and more… The Minute of Peace will be an ongoing project of the UN Culture of Peace Forum, which will continue running after October 10th 2010. The accomplishment achieved between now and October 10th 2010 will only be a channel for a far more comprehensive PEACE lifestyle implementation process, adopted by all United Nations Member States and serviced by the UNCPF.

How its done

• Using volunteers to manage the online community

• Using volunteers to engage in local activities (filming etc’)

• Doing Mushups (combining existing platforms)

• Getting celebrities to take part in the activities

• Combining the minute of peace with the yearly World Expo

• Partner with global sponsors for worldwide activities (working under our instructions)

• Partner with local sponsors for local activities (working under our instructions)

• Allowing online donation

• Allowing active individuals and competition winners to decide to which organization/activity the funding will go

• Use of widgets in all Social Networking websites (facebook, My space etc’)

• Advertising with sponsors (such as Google and Microsoft)

• Creating a “word of mouth” using web2.0 websites (YouTube, flickr, slideshare etc’)
