Myth #1

Evaporative Coolers are just Swamp Coolers

TRUTH #1

Evaporative Coolers are just Swamp Coolers

While evaporative coolers use the same principles as the swamp coolers of yesteryear, evaporative coolers have evolved to become much more energy efficient and effective. The true difference in efficiency is in the

pads -- or to the technical among you, the rigid media. Port-A-Cool units offer true differentiation because they use KUUL® pads, the strongest, heaviest pads on the market that utilize an advanced curing process and resin

technology.

They are especially effective in producing the most efficient cooling as they maximize the interaction between air and water. Evaporative coolers that utilize KUUL pads can lower temperatures up to 30 degrees Fahrenheit for an hourly operating cost

of 0.05¢ to 0.28¢ (depending on the size of the Port-A-Cool unit; our units cover between 500 to 4,000 square feet)

TRUTH #2

Evaporative coolers are among the most

energy-efficient cooling methods available.

Many of our coolers only pull the amount of electricity used to run a toaster.

Evaporative Coolers use LOTS of energy

Myth #3

TRUTH #3Evaporative coolers are easier on both the environment and the

pocketbook because they are a green, natural source for cooling that runs on tap water without the use of harsh chemicals/refrigerants. Air

conditioners have compressors that require a place to ventilate the heat generated from the compressor. Unlike an air conditioning system, a

portable evaporative cooler does not require fixed-ductwork for ventilation. They actually work best in large open areas like warehouses or even outdoors. In this way, Port-A-Cool units are highly portable and effectively cool areas where air conditioning is impractical and/or cost-

prohibitive.

TRUTH #4While evaporative coolers DO use water, it is important to note that they DON'T get anything wet or spray liquid. Whether many feet away or right

up close, what you get from an evaporative cooler is a refreshing and chilled breeze with NO mist.

Myth #5

TRUTH #5While it’s true that evaporative coolers achieve significant temperature drops in more arid climates and drier spaces, they still offer relief from

the heat in any climate.

This is where believing scientific fact, rather than myth, can help keep you cool! Even in regions where relative humidity reaches 70% at

midday with temperatures over 90 degrees Fahrenheit, evaporative coolers have been shown to offer significant relief.

Questions? So, there you have it. Evaporative coolers aren’t swamp coolers, air conditioning or misters. These portable units are an environmentally

friendly option for cooling a variety of spaces, and in a variety of climates.

Port-A-Cool® Units are:

Portable cooling units designed to lower temperatures up to 30˚ F

An environmentally-friendly option that cools anywhere traditional air conditioning is ineffective or cost prohibitive.
