1. Focus

•Camera relies on the focal point

To Focus

•Press the shutter half-way, then finish the shotwhen ready.

Focus tips

•Zoom in, press half-way, then re-frame the shot.

2. Modes / White Balance

Modes

• Usually good results – cameras are pretty “smart”

Auto mode

• Good for long distance shots

• Enhanced colors and contrast, sometimes slower shutter speed

Landscape mode (mountains)

• Get ready for the score! Press and hold half way...

• Try panning, keeps subject focused.

Sports mode (running man)

• Open the iris to let more light in

• Flash, if used, only lights the foreground

Night mode (moon/stars)

•Out of focus?

•Camera shake?

•Camera shake?– Hold your breath,– Use a tripod/hard surface, or– Use the self-timer!
