Destination?

LEDC’s are now in reach for the MEDC tourist, as a result tourists bring their tourist dollar to help LEDC’s develop their economy.

This is because they often have the raw materials, e.g. sun, beautiful coastline, exotic cultures.

What are the problems of tourism? Profits can leak out through foreign

owned companies. Goods may be imported (food and

drink) which may create a trade deficit.

People may migrate to an area to get a job in the tourism industry.

Lack of respect for local culture, may lead to alcohol abuse and prostitution.
