The Minimum Wage is Rising to $15.00 an hour! accordingtodarine.com /2016/04/04/the-minimum-wage-is-rising-to-15-00-an-hour/ (This is not a rant. These are just the thoughts that ran through my head as I saw this on the news today as well as when I first heard about this new minimum wage. I just want to share with you all.) You know, a couple of years ago I would of looked at this idea of raising the minimum wage to 15.00 an hour as an awesome move! I mean, why wait this long to put on an idea to raise the minimum wage to almost 20.00?? Why couldn’t this happen like when I got out of college?! I would of been making that money and putting in those hours! Not to say I am not doing that now, but still. I still find benefits to this new minimum wage that’s to come, but I do have my worries concerning that. To sum up my one concern, I will refer to a saying that I have learned over the years is far from the truth but can be true. It’s all part of your mindset towards your finances, but back to the saying: “More money, more problems.” Once again, I am not a believer of that saying nowadays. If you believe that more money will only bring more problems, it will happen. More money will avoid you because you believe more money is a misfortune, not a chance of abundance. The fact that I believed that is the reason I was where I was. I made more money over the years and more bills started coming out of nowhere. I learned about mindset and now, I am at peace and opening up possibilities for more abundance in my life! Back to my concern, my concern mostly has to do with observation and stating the obvious based on history. What I am concerned about is with the raise of 15.00 on the front end, something else will increase on the back end as well as decrease. Let me put a situation in play: You are working at McDonalds as a cashier, making 15.00 an hour. You work full-time, which means you make 40 hours a week. You get paid weekly. How much money are you going to make a week without taxes? about 600.00 a week. You are making $600.00 a week!! That’s $2,400 a month and $28,800 a year! You are making close to $30,000 a year working at McDonalds. You’re making what an assistant manager, maybe a manager, are making doing less work. Sounds great, right? Here’s where the concern lies. There are two concepts I want to address with that scenario. First, the increase on the back end. With the raise of the minimum wage, the taxes taken out will also increase. Uncle Sam has to get paid to. Have you not realized that the more money you make, the more money the government will take out? The more money you make, the more taxes they take. It’s a real shame because it forces us to want to work less just to keep more of our money, but that wouldn’t work either because yeah sure, the government takes less from your check but how much did you make on that check overall? Are you able to do all that you want to do with that lowered check? What is all worth it? 1/2

(This is not a rant. These are just the thoughts that ran through my head as I saw this onthe news today as well as when I first heard about this new minimum wage. I just wantto share with you all.)

You know, a couple of years ago I would of looked at this idea of raising the minimumwage to 15.00 an hour as an awesome move! I mean, why wait this long to put on anidea to raise the minimum wage to almost 20.00?? Why couldn’t this happen like when Igot out of college?! I would of been making that money and putting in those hours! Notto say I am not doing that now, but still. I still find benefits to this new minimum wagethat’s to come, but I do have my worries concerning that. To sum up my one concern, Iwill refer to a saying that I have learned over the years is far from the truth but can betrue. It’s all part of your mindset towards your finances, but back to the saying:

“More money, more problems.”

Once again, I am not a believer of that saying nowadays. If you believe that more moneywill only bring more problems, it will happen. More money will avoid you because youbelieve more money is a misfortune, not a chance of abundance. The fact that I believedthat is the reason I was where I was. I made more money over the years and more billsstarted coming out of nowhere. I learned about mindset and now, I am at peace and opening up possibilities formore abundance in my life!

Back to my concern, my concern mostly has to do with observation and stating the obvious based on history. What Iam concerned about is with the raise of 15.00 on the front end, something else will increase on the back end as wellas decrease.

Let me put a situation in play:

You are working at McDonalds as a cashier, making 15.00 an hour. You work full-time, which means you make 40hours a week. You get paid weekly.

How much money are you going to make a week without taxes? about 600.00 a week.

You are making $600.00 a week!! That’s $2,400 a month and $28,800 a year! You are making close to $30,000 ayear working at McDonalds. You’re making what an assistant manager, maybe a manager, are making doing lesswork.

Sounds great, right?

Here’s where the concern lies. There are two concepts I want to address with that scenario.

First, the increase on the back end. With the raise of the minimum wage,

the taxes taken out will also increase. Uncle Sam has to get paid to. Have you not realized that the more money youmake, the more money the government will take out? The more money you make, the more taxes they take. It’s areal shame because it forces us to want to work less just to keep more of our money, but that wouldn’t work eitherbecause yeah sure, the government takes less from your check but how much did you make on that check overall? Are you able to do all that you want to do with that lowered check? What is all worth it?

Second, the decrease on the front end. I’m going straight to the point here. You better believe with people workinganywhere for a minimum of $15.00 an hour,

there will be a decrease in hours . There will be a change in what will be considered full-time because you think youcan finally work in food service or retail and make about $500 a week in an entry level position? Of course not. Theyraise the wage and it sounds all good, but not everything is going to be good. When it comes to matters of the jobmarket, you have to be a realist because if you are not aware, you can easily be disillusioned.

When one thing changes, everything around it changes. You can’t have one thing change and expect everything tostay the same.

Remember that.

I challenge you to stay knowledgeable on the world you live in because it is always rapidly changing before youreyes. I challenge you to be a leader of your life because no one else is going to take care of you better than you. Ichallenge you to change your life before life changes on you.

take care.
