Introduction• Islam is a comprehensive way of life.

• Islam lays great emphasis on work.

• The goal of ethics in Islam is producing members and employees in an organization competent.

• Labour in Islam emphasizes a concept of faith, piety and harmony in the community lives and individual in this world also hereafter.

Definition of ethics Ethics comes from Greek word ‘ethos’ which means

“character”.

Ethics: A code of moral standards of conduct for what is “good” and “right” as opposed to what is bad or wrong.

Or defined as the set of moral principles that distinguish what is right from what is wrong.

Work ethics: A standard of conduct and values for job performance.

Work ethic in Islam: Based on the faith and piety to Allah S.W.T

Concept of ethics1. Normative ethics: The search for principle that

guide or regulate human conduct which tell us what is right or wrong.

2. Meta-ethics: the study of where ethical notions come from and what they mean in particular, whether there is an ethical system independent of our own opinions that could be applied to any situation at any time or place.

History of ethics• Our prophet Adam is the first and oldest pioneer of ethics in this

world.

• Ethics was continued by another generation such as prophet, apostle and intellectuals.

• According to the Islamic ethical philosophy, human are the key factors that influence ethics itself.

• The main mission the creation of human is to prosperous the earth.

The prophet (S.A.W) emphasized the important of family nurturing when he said :

• “ command your children to pray when they become seven years old, and discipline them for it (prayers) when they become ten years old and arrange their beds ( to sloop) separately.”

Instinct

Human are born with instinct and different of nature or natural

Instinct influence creation of human ethics

Example: instinct to eat, to have fun, desire with family.

Sanity and consideration of human led to the humans to do good ethics or wrong ethics

Customs

Customs is values accepted by most people that practiced by community

For example: respect each others, helping, loving and so on are noble ethics that exist in customs.

Descent

Physical and mental are also important factor in establishment of good ethics.

For example: human capital in work are inherited from the ethic of the family.

Environment

Natural environment include behaviour, culture, heritage, tradition, individual and community experience

Environment condition help the labour to achieve organization goal.

Purposeful

Purpose are ambition, dedication, strong desire, patience, and sense of responsibility that belongs to someone.

Purpose also among the factors influence the establishment of ethics.

Therefore, labour in Islam emphasizes high achievement and determination toward the excellence.

Conscience

Conscience is exist in the soul of someone that led to do something right and wrong.

The organization will excellence when the conscience of every members of the human capital is not influence by negative environment that tends to ruination.

A) Oneness (Keesaan)

The Important of moral values and religion in work

Work is a worship.

Work just not to get the material profit only but to fulfill it as a assertion of moral and religion.

All efforts will be judged as a righteous deeds in sight of Allah.

Optimal use of time

Time is a resource or capital that should be utilized and should not be wasted.

Allah s.w.t commands to the muslims to perform the prayers on time, fasting in Ramadhan and pilgrimage in certain seasons.

Handle the job at the right time without delay. Delay means you are negligence.

No discrimination and bias allowed

Treat the employees fairly and not bias.

Employers should protect the rights and welfare of workers.

Human are same regardless of their face, rank, and race.

Allah s.w.t enhance someone's position by seeing its faith and piety.

B) Freedom

The practice of ‘Al-Shura’

Labor in Islam encourage its followers to always give and receive opinion before making a decision.

The meeting and discussion are based on Al-Shura (musyawarah).

Musyawarah are discussion among the group to find the solution of the problem that concern with common good and satisfactory agreement among the group member.

Give a positive impact to the leader and teamwork.

Can avoid conflict and dissatisfaction.

C) Justice

Always pay attention to the employee needs

Protect the right and welfare of workers.

Provide condusive and safe workplace to the employees.

Respect each other.

Give proper wages and benefits

In Islam a wage that are not commensurate with the work done labeled as a form of extortion that violate human rights.

Employers should provide a fringe benefits to their workers.

D) Responsibility

Constantly evaluate and improve performance.

measure worker performance time to time.

Work diligently and efficiently.

Increase in the production and profit organization.

Islam look diligence in doing a job as a noble nature.

Delegation of tasks based on their skills and capabilities.

Arrange and determine the task. Make sure operated by an expert in that field.

E) Ihsan

Ihsan: Do worship with humble, sincere, and confident that Allah see all what we are doing.

Adopted the nature of mahmudah

Avoid the practiced of mazmumah in our daily lives and workplace.

Emphasizes public relation

Public relation philosophy in Islam aim to build a strong relationship in order to exist silaturrahim environment and ukhuwwah islamiyyah.

Does not tied to geographical boundaries, language, rank and level, but because for the pleasure of Allah S.W.T.

Employers must concerns with employees problem in implementing the tasks.

Emphasizes etiquette in human resource development in

recruitment, selection and dismissal of employees aspect.

in the aspect of employees selection and recruitment,

many companies/organizations that only interested on

specific individual/group based on race, gender, religion

and age to fill certain positions.

- Happen because of disciplinary action taken

Generally influenced by bias and prejudice from

receive equal reward for their effort in the

Conclusion As a conclusion, etiquette is the most important

element in every organizations management and

development of the country to ensure that goals and

objectives are achieved successfully.

It can be concluded that work etiquette goals in Islam

are sourced from al-Quran and Sunnah which anchored

on faith( akidah), Syariah and morality (akhlak)
