How does your media product represent particular social groups?
My media product represents the following 5 social groups, Class, Race, Age Gender and
sexuality.

Class
My product is mainly aimed at middle classed people. The main reason for this is due to the style, and the genre of music. Many of the bands and artists come from middle class backgrounds. Also the style of clothes for Indie Rock is much middle class standard, casual etc.
I have presented the fact it is aimed at middle class people in the images, throughout the magazine the people I interviewed and took pictures of were wearing casual clothing that related the the theme of the magazine.
The price of the magazine also targets middle class people, it is not too expensive nor too cheap.
Race
The main target race for my product is white.
This does not mean that other races cannot buy my magazine or like the music, it just means that whites, are more stereotypical to like Indie Rock music, whereas cultures from Jamaica etc may prefer rap.
Also the most popular and well known Indie Bands began in the UK.
Age
My target age group for the product is 16-28.
The main protagonist of my magazine, (Jake Banks) is 17, which is a similar age and within the target market. This is to present the age target, and encourage people of a similar age to buy it, when they see the front cover.
I chose this age group, because many people of this age usually go to festivals and listen to this type of music, therefore would be likely to enjoy reading about it.
Gender
In my production I said that my product was mainly aimed at males. This was because many if not all, Indie Rock bands and artists are males, some are girls but the majority are males.
Therefore it seems only right that my target market of social group is male.
Many of the images in the magazine are male to present who I am targeting.
However girls may enjoy reading it too, but it is just expected that males are more likely to buy it.
