Collaborative economy means…

Decentralization and distribution instead of centralization (of capital, power, decisions, actions).

Acces instead of ownership.

P2P networks and desintermediation.

Anticonsumerims, enviromental conscious, fair trade, equity, focus on humans.

Commons orientation.

Wide variety of iniatives, both for profit and nonprofit, concerning material and inmaterial goods, services, knowledge, rights, food, technologie, spaces, identities. Not all always compatible!

To summarize, visibilize, understand, impulse: EL PLAN CThe first website in Argentina focused on news and resources about collaborative economy as a whole. Mission: try to make sense of this wide range of activities and iniatives:

coworkings + community gardens (not ruled by government).

makerspaces + analogical repair clubs

online second hand sales platforms + physical “all free” fairs to recirculate goods

free software + free hardware + collaborative natural construction + permaculture

carpooling + common good + disco sopa + open data + citizen innovation

What we found out

Yet?

Specific #p2p rental and #sharing platforms aren’t working (yet?) in Argentina.

ButThere’s a big and growing activity of decentralized rental, lending, second hand selling, sharing and donations, through Facebook or in offline, real life meetings.

What we found out

Commercial #carpooling platforms aren’t working either. In 2013 they were six local startups. In 2014 entered global platform Tripda. By mid 2015, it was alone. In 2016, it shut down globally.

ButA small non profit carpooling platform, Carpoolear, is stil alive and kicking. There’s also a growing decentralizad movement of carpooling in Facebook.

Page 12: Collaborative Economy in Argentina: the meeting of two paradigms

ECONOMIA COLABORATIVA Y CULTURA LIBRE

What we found out

#Crowdlending and #crowdfunding start ups are well and growing, but winner takes all. Soon in 2012 and 2013 there was a boom of platforms, but now it’s a small scene.

It’s the same with Airbnb in tourism… the decentralization business is concentrating :P

Page 13: Collaborative Economy in Argentina: the meeting of two paradigms

ButIn the last three years, the number of cities with #public bikes systems grew from 1 to 4.

What we found out

Page 14: Collaborative Economy in Argentina: the meeting of two paradigms

ECONOMIA COLABORATIVA Y CULTURA LIBRE

But#Coworking is booming: 60% more spaces and 250% more coworkers from 2014 to 2015. So do #makerspaces.

What we found out

Page 15: Collaborative Economy in Argentina: the meeting of two paradigms

ECONOMIA COLABORATIVA Y CULTURA LIBRE

What we found out

#Free software, #free hardware and #free culture communities are stronger every day.

#P2P logic is behind #community wifi networks, #hackerspaces, #repair clubs and other groups.

So? The argentine mix

Collaborative start ups face a hard time trying to validate their business model. Business need money and Argentina is a tough place.

NGOs and network culture are blooming. Argentina is a great place for innovation, and collaboration is part of a solidarity tradition.

Page 17: Collaborative Economy in Argentina: the meeting of two paradigms

ECONOMIA COLABORATIVA Y CULTURA LIBRE

Collaborative economy in Argentina looks more like a bunch of practices than a business model. It’s more about community resilience than about market solutions.

Startup model and minga culture learn from each other and grow.

So? The argentine mix
