Emblems and Symbols The o cial bird of the Yukon is the raven. This large intelligent bird is one of the few that live in the territory year-round.

Our fl oral emblem is the Fireweed. Most

commonly found in old burns and open meadows, Fireweed’s magenta blooms abound from mid-July to mid-September.

Lazulite, the o cial gemstone, is a rare, azure blue, semi-precious gemstone, found in remote northeast Yukon. The name is derived from the Arabic word “laza”, which means heaven.

The sub-alpine fi r (Abies lasiocarpa) was selected as Yukon’s o cial tree in 2001.
