YSNPs, Packs and Trees
Resurgence of the FTDNA yHaplotree SNP Packs - A status update
Haplotree today
May 2015 – 6,556 SNPs Today – 23,767 SNPs Unique haplogroup labels – 6,728 Total “terminal nodes” – 3,192
Haplotree update guidelines 1. SNP Name*, position (hg19),
mutation 2. Proposed phylogeny/SNP
positioning 3. Provide kit proofs 4. Avoid heavily recurrent, STR
embedded, and other unreliable SNPs.
5. Must be FTDNA generated data 6. No private SNPs (2+ required)
SNP Packs – An Overview Carefully designed
panel of SNPs relevant and encompassing to a specific group (M343, L21 etc.)
Cost efficient method to move a tester down the tree
Can match – Can NOT discover*
SNP Packs
77 active panels (~35 in design)
8 haplogroups (E, G, I, J, N, Q, R, T)

Questions?
I have a BigY, do I need a SNP Pack? Can I buy just one SNP?
