Public Communications Training for Women

Page 2: Wst2

why womenspeak?

Public communication - whether by way of a media appearance, a company presentation or a speech for an event - is an instrument of incalculable influence. Yet current research shows that women still struggle both to gain access to it and to thrive within its sphere.

WOMENSPEAK Training was established to address this lack of parity by way of better communications training. We have tailored traditional communication programs to meet the specific needs of the female communicator in a variety of public communications and advocacy settings.

"Judgments about confidence can be inferred only from the way people present themselves, and much of that presentation is in the form of talk... In U.S. businesses, where men's speaking style dominates, women may be ignored, interrupted, and passed over for promotions - even if they're highly competent.”

"The Power of Talk: Who Gets Heard and Why"Deborah TannenHarvard Business Review

why womenspeak?

Figures from the Women's Media Center show that globally, news stories including women tally less than 15% and are often only about appearance and family status.

"WOMENSPEAK Training gave me valuable advice on communicating effectively in different media. I learned how to hone a message, streamline information, create sound bites and look and feel more comfortable in front of a camera. Emily was also generous with her followup and feedback.
