TRiO is a set of federally-funded college opportunity programs that motivate and support students from disadvantaged backgrounds in their pursuit of a college degree.
790,000 low-income, first-generation students and students with disabilities — from sixth grade through college graduation — are served by over 2,800 programs nationally. TRiO programs provide academic tutoring, personal counseling, mentoring, financial guidance,
and other supports necessary for educational access and retention. TRiO programs provide direct support services for students, and relevant training for directors and staff.

The Education Talent Search (ETS) program identifies and assists youths who have the potential to succeed in higher education. The program provides academic, career, and financial counseling to its participants and encourages them to graduate from high school and enroll in and complete their postsecondary education.

Upward Bound & Upward Bound Math Science are college preparatory programs which focus on increasing the number of low-income and first generation students earning a college degree Services Provided AcademicYearServices: Participants receive year-round services and support through their academic coordinator including:u Academic advising/tutoring and ACT Exam preparationu Course planning assistance and career counselingu Cultural and social activitiesu Financial and economic literacy instructionu College visits
u Assistance with college and scholarship applications SummerProgram: Participants attend an academic residential program conducted on a college campus that is centered around a research project and supported by instruction in a range of academic subjects. They also engage in recreational, social, and cultural activities, and are given paid internship opportunities. BridgeScholarship: Participants who consistently meet project goals become eligible for a Bridge Scholarship to attend college during the summer after their senior year in high school.
