20% Practical Food Journal. 80% Theory : Food studies Consumer Studies Resource management. Social studies An elective is also chosen in 6th year from a
group of three including home design and management, textiles fashion and design and social studies. This elective is also worth 20%.
Syllabus Content:
17 students are taking Home Economics to Leaving Cert. Of this group, 12 are taking the higher –level paper with only 5 taking the ordinary-level paper.
Many of these students hope to follow careers in the practical food industry, food science or social science.
As well as this, this subject gives them the opportunity to gain valuable life skills as well as well-deserved points in the Leaving Cert.
