WEEKLY NOTE - Monday 27th February 2017
God bless you all! Bridget Wilders, Principal
School Closure for ElectionsAs you are aware, there will be Assembly Elections coming up on Thursday
2nd March. Our school will be used as a Polling Station on this day and therefore our school will be closed.
We are proud to announce that our Senior pupils will stage The Lion King this year.
The show will take place in St. Patrick’s Hall on Tuesday 13th , Wednesday 14th and Friday 16th June. Our children and staff from both sites are so excited about this stage production and we hope you will be too!
We have a full production team working on this very special show with our staff and children. Further information re ticket sales etc will follow! Every member of our Nursery, Junior and Senior School Families are welcome to attend what will be a fantastic Primary School Production!
Exciting times. SEE POSTER INSIDE
Attention Parents of St. Catherine’s Nursery and
Primary School!!!
Joe’s Bodyworks have kindly agreed to work with our children in keep fit sessions and also have a session for our parents … to give you all a taster of a real good workout!
This will be a Fun Fitness Sponsored Event for our wee children. We will donate money raised from this event to Koram Centre Strabane (an organisation dedicated to helping and support Mental Health) and we will also raise money for resources for our own children through boosting our school funds.
The sponsorship events will take place in school on:
1. Monday 13th March for Year 4 Children2. Tuesday 14th March for Years 1-3 Children with a special session for parents of Junior School Children from 9.15am-9.45am. 3. Wednesday 15th March for Years Nursery and 5-7 Children with a special session for parents of Senior School and Nursery Children from 9.15am- 9.45am.
What happens next?
Our children will get home a Sponsor sheet today where we ask them to get sponsors who will sponsor their fun fitness session in March.
Then we will have the Fun Fitness Day and children should bring in their Sponsorship sheets and money after for our very good causes.
This guarantees to be an exciting event for our little children and a fun way of keeping fit also. The taster sessions for parents are there to give you all a sample of the kinds of activities available at Joe’s Bodyworks for all you parents interested in keep fit classes.
We thank Joe’s Bodyworks for approaching our school to creatively raise money for a very cause and keep fit at the same time!!
Staying Fit and Healthyin St. Catherine’s!!!

Confirmation Preparation Mass: Called by Name
Many thanks to all the Year 7 Pupils and their parents who attended our Confirmation Preparation Mass, “Called by Name”. Many thanks to all the staff who work so hard with our children and also to Miss Aoibhinn Kerr who worked so hard with the children to prepare the very special liturgical dance. A very special, reverent occasion indeed.
Our Annual Speech Feis will take place in St. Patrick;s Hall from Thursday 9th March until Sunday 12th March . This is a great opportunity for our children to not only develop their speech and drama skills but also to develop confidences of speaking in front of people which will serve them well later in life!!
Every child who enters Feis will receive a participation certificate from our school regardless of the Feis adjudication in recognition of each child putting themselves forward to learn and develop these skills.! Well done to all.
The timetables for each day of the Speech Feis are below. Enjoy the experience!
SPEECH FEIS

Please help us to be kind, patient and helpful to each other during Lent. Help us to follow directions the first time we are asked.
Amen
Sometimes saying “I’m sorry” seems to be too
hard to do.
Maybe you can apologise indifferent ways – shake hands; share something
or give a compliment.
